Shrubs
Shrubs are available in an amazing variety of colors, shapes, textures, temperature and soil tolerances. In addition, shrubs range in shape from dwarf, to compact, to large sprawlers. Shrubs are excellent for foundation plantings, hedges, screens, windbreaks and of course attractive additions to the landscape.
When looking for a shrub, it is best to determine if you would prefer an evergreen or flowering variety. Evergreens are rarely, if ever without leaves. Examples of evergreens are azaleas, boxwoods, and euonymus. Flowering shrubs provide a colorful show of blooms, and in select varieties fruits and fantastic foliage displays by season. Examples of flowering shrubs include hydrangeas, altheas, lilacs and viburnums. If you can't decide, don't worry, both evergreen and flowering shrub varieties will work together in your landscape to give you the results and benefits you are looking for.
